Gimp-Print drivers are a collection of open source drivers that are included with Mac OS X to use incase the manufacturer doesn't have a set of drivers for your printer in Mac OS X. What I would suggest doing at this point would be seeing if HP has any updated drivers that you can install, or seeing if the Gimp-print drivers would work better. It looks like the print engine on your computer my have some trouble with the driver as it is - written for a Motorolla processor. So it looks like you're not the only one with this issue. I received some helpful feedback from Apple Support, thanks to tech support representative Jake via Apple Chat. Common Apple, please do something about this issue. Very minor little differences but it is causing me big headache with printing and I am not about to replace a good working printer with something else. It looks like Printer Drivers are different (different list on both) Email version is different (PPC is version 2.0.5 and Intel is 2.0.6 and many other little difference. You know that even though the OSX says it is Tiger 10.4.4 on both the PPC and the Intel, the OSX is not really the same. The drivers from HP installs fine and my Intel machine, iMac Intel sees the printer in the printer browser when I try to add a printer but the driver cannot does not show up as an option to be selected like I can on G4 and G5. My G4 and G5 print to my HP SmartPhoto 7550 falwlessly using the HP drivers for Tiger but my iMac Intel does not. I have the same OS 10.4.4 on my G4, G5 and Intel.
Note: This Driver is only downloaded for HP Photosmart 7350 Printers.People, Evidently, there is a problem with printing on an Intel Mac that has nothing to do with the OS and Tiger compatibility and I do not know when Apple is going to acknowledge this instead of having people buy new printers.
